At the Airport (First 30 Minutes)

Get a SIM card: at Changi, buy a local Malaysian SIM from the Maxis or CelcomDigi counter in the arrivals hall (SGD15-20 for a tourist SIM). At KLIA or Senai, grab a Hotlink or CelcomDigi prepaid SIM for RM25-35 with 40GB+ data. Activate immediately and test internet. Withdraw cash: use an airport ATM to get RM500 in Malaysian ringgit — this covers your first week of incidentals. Verify your MDAC (Malaysia Digital Arrival Card) is accessible on your phone. Download the Grab app if you haven't already, and add your payment method.
Getting to Forest City (Hours 1-3)
From Changi: order a Grab to Forest City or use a pre-booked private transfer. The drive takes 1 to 2 hours via Tuas Second Link. Have your passport and MDAC ready for Malaysian immigration. From KLIA: take a domestic flight to Senai (45 min) or a bus to JB Sentral (4-5 hours). From Senai: Grab directly to Forest City (30-45 min, RM40-60). During the drive, use your new SIM to message NS with your expected arrival time. Charge your phone — you will need it for check-in. If arriving late at night, confirm that NS check-in is available or arrange for late arrival.
Checking In at NS (Hours 3-5)
NS check-in happens at the reception area. You will receive your room key, meet your roommate (if NS Basic), get a tour of facilities, and receive orientation materials. Set up your room immediately — unpack essentials, test the air conditioning and WiFi, and claim your desk space. Connect to NS WiFi and join the Discord server. Review the weekly schedule for your first week. If you arrive on the 1st of the month with your cohort, a group orientation session covers everything. If you arrive mid-month, a staff member handles individual onboarding. Take a shower, change clothes, and resist the urge to sleep until local bedtime.
Your First Evening (Hours 5-10)
Attend dinner at the NS dining area — this is your first Blueprint meal and your first chance to meet fellow members. Introduce yourself but do not over-socialize if jet-lagged. After dinner, walk around the campus to familiarize yourself with locations: gym, coworking space, pool, laundry, convenience store. Set your alarm for Morning Burn tomorrow — showing up on day 2 establishes the habit immediately. Take melatonin if needed for sleep adjustment (0.5 to 3mg, 30 minutes before target bedtime). Fill a water bottle from the dispenser for your room. Set your AC to a comfortable temperature. Sleep as early as you can to start resetting your circadian rhythm.

What if I arrive at night and everything is closed?
NS has provisions for late arrivals. Contact them in advance with your flight details. A staff member or security can provide room access after hours. The convenience store in Forest City may be closed, so bring snacks and a water bottle from the airport. Late-night food delivery via GrabFood is available until 10-11pm.
How much cash should I bring from home?
Bring $100-200 USD as emergency backup, but convert to MYR at the airport or via ATM immediately. Most places in Malaysia accept cards (Visa/Mastercard), and Grab accepts cards and GrabPay. You will primarily need cash for small local purchases, street food, and some taxis. RM500 from the ATM covers your first 1-2 weeks of incidentals.
What if my luggage is delayed?
File a claim at the airport baggage desk immediately. Airlines deliver delayed luggage to your address — provide the Forest City address with clear directions. In the meantime, NS can provide basic toiletries. Convenience stores in Forest City sell essentials. Pack a change of clothes and critical medications in your carry-on as insurance against luggage delays.
