The Network School Packing List: What to Bring and What to Buy There
The essential packing list for Network School: clothing, tech, fitness gear, toiletries, and what you can easily buy in Malaysia or Singapore.
Clothing Essentials
Pack for hot, humid weather.
Pack for hot, humid weather. Bring lightweight, breathable shirts and shorts in quick-dry or moisture-wicking fabrics. You will want at least five to seven days worth of casual clothing since laundry service is included but takes a day or two to turn around. Include a light long-sleeve layer for aggressively air-conditioned indoor spaces. A rain jacket or compact umbrella is essential for afternoon thunderstorms. Swimwear for the pool and any beach trips. Comfortable walking shoes and a pair of sandals or flip-flops for daily use. Skip heavy clothing entirely unless you plan side trips to cooler regions.
Tech and Work Gear
Your laptop is the most critical item. Bring your charger and a Type G power adapter for Malaysian outlets if your charger does not already have one. An external monitor is worth the luggage space if you do heavy computer work, as NS does not provide monitors. Noise-cancelling headphones are essential for the coworking space and video calls. A portable battery pack keeps your phone charged during day trips. A USB-C hub or dongle if your laptop has limited ports. Consider a compact laptop stand for ergonomic desk setup.
Fitness and Workout Gear
Bring athletic shoes suitable for HIIT workouts since the Morning Burn sessions are intense. Pack at least three to four sets of workout clothing that dry quickly in humid conditions. A small towel for gym use is helpful though often provided. If you have specific fitness accessories like resistance bands, jump rope, or a yoga mat, bring them, although the gym is well-equipped for most exercises. Sunscreen and a hat for outdoor workouts. A water bottle with a capacity of at least 750ml for the tropical heat.
Health and Toiletries
Bring any prescription medications for your entire stay plus a two-week buffer, along with a copy of your prescriptions. Sunscreen with SPF 50 or higher. Insect repellent with DEET for mosquitoes. Basic first aid items like band-aids and antiseptic. Your preferred toiletries, though standard brands are available at Malaysian pharmacies. Any specialty supplements or vitamins you take regularly. A small travel first aid kit. Contact lens supplies if applicable. Motion sickness medication if you are prone to car sickness on winding roads.
What to Buy There
Do not overpack. Malaysia and Singapore have excellent retail options for most things you might forget. Power adapters, toiletries, basic clothing, and phone accessories are all available at convenience stores and malls in JB. Singapore has Apple stores and electronics retailers for any tech needs. Food, snacks, and drinks are cheap and plentiful. Laundry supplies are not needed since the service is included. You can apply at ns.com and the onboarding team sends a detailed packing checklist specific to your cohort month and travel routing.
